Each HIPPS consist of two hydraulically actuated Shutdown valves, each one being controlled by two pressure pilots, all in a skid-mounted package. The valves arrangement is in series within the pipeline.
High-pressure detection function
If high-pressure is detected, the HIPPS closes the Shutdown valves and protect the downstream facility against elevated pressure.
The shutdown assembly
The shutdown Valves & Actuator Assembly features Partial stroke testing system – “Smart” type IDC24 from Val Controls.
Smart systems involve:
digital valve positioners
provides date and time stamp of tests
store and compare test results
remote testing and data retrieval.
